Christine is like many of us, and does not enjoy talking about herself much. I will provide a short overview, and solicit comments to follow from people who have learned things about Christine's personality, experience, skills and character.
When I met Christine, she was working on her Chemistry degree at the University of Utah in preparation for medical school. She completed all of her pre-med requirements, completed a community college degree in surgical assisting, taught clinical rotations for the same, volunteered at a homeless clinic, was acting president for the Hawaiian Civic Club, was a teacher and a leader in her church, and never gave up on her goal of medical school.
She discovered the Physician Assistant profession while working with a PA at the homeless clinic where she volunteered with her phlebotomy expertise. She was the top female student chosen her first year applying for PA school, and she graduated in the top ten of her class. Christine passed her general boards and surgical boards the first time around. Her first job was at a hospital based family medicine residency program in Utah, where she saw patients on a regular basis to cover for doctors who alternated between patients and teaching residents. The internal medicine doctor there, in particular, told me about Christine's competence, and took us to dinner before we moved back to Hawaii to thank her.
Christine worked with top surgeons as a scrub tech and first assistant for years, and learned their personal surgical technique preferences.
I dropped her off at the Honolulu airport early Monday mornings when she commuted to the Big Island for three day cardiology shifts, followed by weekdays here on Oahu.
For three years now, she has been seeing patients in internal medicine and family practice, in Honolulu and Kaneohe respectively.
These are objective events, so drop me a line and contribute your favorite experiences with Christine in a few short paragraphs!
